High Seas Treaty Will Allow Protection of International Waters

For the treaty to go into effect requires 60 nations to ratify. 50 have done so, but this week 19 more pledged to ratify by the end of the year. Right now international waters are “the wild west”, completely unregulated. This treaty will create an international commission to set some rules and establish protected areas.
